During the pandemic there were fewer people on the streets. It was a good opportunity to capture single people in the urban environment. That’s not always easy during other times.
Shooting film is lots of fun and it leaves creative possibilities wide open. The really cool thing about film is you have to wait to see what you captured! Here are 2 recent photos that I took with this crazy camera and film. The camera is a Sutton Panoramic Belair with a Hydrochrome lens, that’s water in the lens. And the film is Yodica Polaris 400. Photography should be fun!

Street photography mentoring means that I am able to provide value to experienced photographers as well as beginners. The beauty of street photography is that you can always grow and improve your photos. It is easy to get into a routine in your work and become dissatisfied as a result. I am able to provide this to a degree with my group workshops. But with private workshops it’s all about you.
Of all the neighborhoods in New York City for street photography, Midtown is a real favorite. So many people and so much diversity! I have a group workshop there about once a month.

Street photography is always about the human element in its environment. It is very different than street portraits.

I have always found Manhattan Chinatown to be a great escape into a very different neighborhood. There’s so much to discover in this city and I’m always inspired to shoot Chinatown. Always. I have a few group street photography workshops scheduled in Chinatown. And yes, we always have fun.
Chinatown in Manhattan has been a favorite neighborhood to shoot, eat and just hang out in! I’m going through my photo library and digging up photos from the past that I’ve never processed or posted before or just ones that I forgot about. Here’s one from 2016. Check out my upcoming workshops in Chinatown and other neighborhoods.

Silhouettes are also great for street photography.
Self-Portraits should not be confused with selfies. Reflections are a great method to capture creative self-portraits. This one was taken in Midtown while out shooting with a friend and Mona Lisa!
