I’m not a fan of shooting events and capturing photos that document it. But I do love capturing candid photos on Halloween with people in costume. It isn’t always easy to capture candid photos of events.
In my workshops, we work with what’s there. Reflections are a lot of fun and when the light is right we work with them.

Yes, you can also shoot film in my workshops. What a challenge to have to wait to see what you captured! In these days of digital where you can see what you took instantly, there’s something to be said about the anticipation.
I don’t know why people spend do much time and money obsessed with gear. A camera is merely a tool. It doesn’t matter which camera you use providing that you are able to capture photos that you like and want.

City in Color is a series of photos in which color became a dominant consideration in the process. Color is intrinsic to the composition. Throughout the process, I narrowed my vision to isolate some of the many palettes that exist in the city.
City in Color is a photozine of 27 full color photographic images. It is a 36 page, saddle-stitched publication and it measures 5.8" x 8.26". It is limited to 100 copies which are signed and numbered. Don’t hesitate to buy one before they are sell out!

Very exciting news! If you happen to be in New York City, 9 of my street photos are plastered on the windows at 600 Madison Ave. They are really big. It’s like having an exhibit in a gallery, but way better. And you don’t need to worry about social distancing either. Street photography comes in many different styles. My private street photography workshops are based on your particular interests from straight ahead street photography to abstract street. Brighton Beach aka Little Odessa is a popular private workshop.
I often refer to a quote by Marcel Proust about seeing with new eyes. This is an important element in street photography for me and it is something that we work on in all of my group and private street photography workshops. Taking the time to observe what’s going on.

I’ve always liked the Manhattan Chinatown and in the 1980s I regularly went down there as a kind of escape from the Midtown madness. Chinatown is a favorite place for street photography and I schedule regular workshops there
