Bushwick is home to one of the largest collections of street art in New York City. I do private tours and workshops to Bushwick and other neighborhoods in Brooklyn.
I realize that many people wonder what they might expect when taking a workshop or tour with me. You only need to have a look through some of the reviews on my site and TripAdvisor to get a good idea. Below is an excerpt for a previous review.
I really do need to say a big thank you for taking me on board and guiding me through the streets of New York. I have started to look at the photos and I am reflecting on the time I spent with you. As I reflect, I realise that what you have to offer is invaluable and goes well beyond simply identifying possible photo opportunities. New York was really my first attempt at Street Photography and you taught me so much. I know I was probably more focused on the buildings than the people but I did take in everything you said and I did learn a lot. I came home much wiser and a much better photographer for what you taught me. In the days after the workshop, I found myself using what you had taught me and more importantly looking at what was in front of me with a completely new perspective. I came home a much better photographer and for that I will always be grateful.
Every neighborhood presents possibilities for different kinds of street photography. I offer private street photography workshops in Coney Island, Brooklyn all year round.
So street photography is always candid. But sometimes I take a few street portraits. This man just jumped in front of my camera and starting posing for it. He even did his take on Rodin’s The Thinker! This was taken during a recent street photography workshop in Chinatown. To say the least, it was fun!
It’s becoming less frequent that you can see and capture people reading a newspaper in public. Bonus is that I also got eye contact as well. This was taken during a street photography workshop in Chinatown.
Shooting street photography in the rain is fabulous. Yes, you do need to protect your equipment. But I haven’t encountered a problem yet. Upcoming will be a series of some of my favorite street photos in the rain.

We had a wonderful time shooting during the Soho Street Photography Workshop a few days ago. While there are certainly fewer people on the streets during a weekday, in the winter and during the pandemic, there are many opportunities to capture street photos.
